After training at Studio Bercot and in the ateliers of prestigious designers like Thierry Mugler, Nicolas Ghesquière and
Jeremy Scott, François Sagat had intended to become a fashion designer but was snapped up by the film industry instead. For ten years he alternated between independent films by Christophe Honoré and Bruce La Bruce, and adult videos, imposing his urban gladiator silhouette.
He also helped reinvent the codes of masculinity by changing his identity for photographers like David Armstrong, Pierre et Gilles, Ali Mahdavi and Terry Richardson. With his extensive experience, he launched his brand Kick Sagat in 2013. With the help of Instagram and Twitter, his first collection of t-shirts and accessories, launched in 2013 and sold exclusively on the Internet, was sold out in a few days.
His second collection which starts selling this September 2014, declines more than ever basic sportswear in innovative
materials (microfiber, spandex ...) and in selected colours (candy pink, royal blue, orange, bright yellow ...) covering a full range of intensities of from pastel to near-neon.
The selection of pieces has expanded to tank tops, briefs, boxer briefs, jockstraps, sweatshirts and track bottoms, socks, jewellery and a seasonal range from simple-strap fetish harnesses to earrings. For the prints, which are made randomly, François Sagat mixes the world of competition and that of fairy tales. Clouds, orchids and basketballs interact with the gold logos of tanktops in a dynamic and poetic way. In the image of François Sagat where fashion seduces men that are sensitive to originality, or just looking to add a touch of whimsy to their classic wardrobe.
